About Taichung Bike Week

Taichung Bike Week (TBW) takes place every year in the heart of Taiwan’s manufacturing region. TBW is an international business show for competitive OEM bicycle component producers and their high-end brand customers.  As most in the business probably already know, the nucleus of TBW was initially established at a resort hotel in the outskirts of Taichung City by a few local OEM suppliers to answer to the needs of several well-known brands.  The remarkable success of that event inspired others to follow suit and have their own exhibitions at several high-end downtown Taichung hotels  The informal show gradually grew into one of the most important events in the international bicycle industry calendar.  The Taichung City government came forward in 2008 to help facilitate TBW mini-shows, offering logistical support, which has made the show even more efficient and cost effective for all participants.

TBW has been organized by bike industry volunteers whose objective is to make everyone’s efforts more effective and efficient and to improve our industry as a whole. Organizer Steve Fenton, co-organizer Katerina Rejchrtova, co-organizer Anna Wang of Taichung’s Industrial Development and Promotion Committee, and a host of other helpers put in a lot of volunteer work to make sure Taichung Bike Week delivers the best business and customer experiences.

Taichung Bike Week (TBW) is an OEM show, providing streamlined meetings, frills-free hotel mini-shows, and industry insider exclusivity, providing OEM suppliers an exceptionally accessible and affordable opportunity to increase their international market presence.TBW 2011 grew by more than 20% from 2010, with virtually every major brand's product managers and purchasing agents visiting 145 exhibitors. As in previous years, the exhibiting companies rented rooms in the city’s four host hotels to deliver product presentations and meet with potential customers. To get between the hotels, the Taichung City government & TBW co-sponsor a free shuttle bus service between the four major hotels. For those wanting to keep in shape during their visit, the sponsors have established several challenging bike routes in and around Taichung featuring typical Taiwan country roads through steep and scenic terrain.

In 2012, ISPO BIKE and Taichung Bike Week are pleased to announce their partnership. The aim of this cooperation is to generate synergies for the exhibitors at both trade shows. The organisers of both events are immediately initiating an exchange of ideas and information.  ISPO BIKE is the new brand name for what was formerly BIKE EXPO, successfully launched by Messe Muenchen International in 2009. The new name reflects the growing profile of the Munich bicycle show which in 2012 will take place from 16-19 August in Munich as a result of industry feedback. Now incorporated into the global ISPO brand portfolio, the show, renamed ISPO BIKE can offer its increasing number of brand and retail supporters’ access to the full international strength and resources of ISPO.

Ride On, the event organized by FSA, Crankbrothers, Fox, Magura, Mavic, Vittoria and Hayes Bicycle Group, continues at the Hotel One, a long walk or a short shuttle to the Taichung Bike Week hotels—the Splendor, the Tempus and the Evergreen.

First Group, a partnership between Continental, Deda Elementi, Selle Italia, Cane Creek and Reynolds Cycling, returns this year with the five brands set up together in the basement level of the Tempus Hotel.

Thanks to the generous contributions of Pro-Lite, FSA, Colmax, First Components, and Wheel Giant, the city has expanded its services to producing a buyers’ guide, providing a free shuttle service, hosting a daily happy hour, developing a test-ride route, and publishing a daily Show Express covering activities and highlights from each day.
